The Beleura Private Hospital Redevelopment project, located south of Melbourne, will provide a new 32 bed rehabilitation ward, consulting suites and a new physiotherapy gym in the expansive day services area as well as a new hydrotherapy pool extension.
Wood & Grieve Engineers provided full multi-disciplinary engineering services on the project which also necessitated site infrastructure and extension and modifications to the at-grade carpark.
The hydrotherapy pool required careful engineering design to achieve the required amenity and comfort with a JV3 designed skylight and carefully detailed steel truss assemblies designed to simply bolt together & become a self-stable elevated cubic form on site.
Modular design features were incorporated by both the structural and building services engineering teams, including:
- Assimilation of gantry beams with modular chassis to form a composite system that reduced overall structural depth, thus increasing the undercroft carpark ceiling heights & amenity
- Modular Performance Specifications that leveraged off WGE’s modular experience and lead to:
- Mechanical systems shared across adjacent modules
- Integrated services systems
Modular solutions are increasingly being utilised by Wood & Grieve when appropriate as a way to improve project efficiency, quality control and reduce the requirement for costly on-site labour.
