AHSCA 40th Anniversary

The Association of Hydraulic Services Consultants (AHSCA) represents the professional body of Consulting Engineers who design Hydraulic and Fire services to the building industry. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of its foundation and as such the association held an event to celebrate. The function held at Darling Harbour in NSW had over 300 members and guests attending. Structuring a new greyhound facility

WGE’s Melbourne structural team are excited to be part of the $6.2M upgrade of the greyhound racing track and patrons’ facilities at Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club in Glenview Park. At the recent official announcement of this project Premier of Victoria and Minister for Racing, Denis Napthine said the track at Glenview Park was over 40 years old and no longer met modern needs. “The redevelopment will include the construction of an entirely new track together with a standalone pavilion with modern hospitality services for patrons,” Dr Napthine said. University of Melbourne Main Oval Pavillion wins Excellence in Commercial Construction $5M-$7M Award

We are pleased to announce the recent win of the Excellence in Commercial Construction $5M-$7M Award at the Master Builders Association of Victoria awards for the heritage listed University of Melbourne Main Oval Pavillion project. The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) have released the draft credits for the next generation Green Star Design and As Built tool. This tool has been designed to cater for all building types and will supersede all of the current base building rating tools. World Cup PCA Breakfast in NSW- a WGE sponsored event.

On 29 May 2014, experienced football experts were invited to sit on a panel to discuss the chances of the Socceroos at the World Cup in Brazil. WGE were major sponsors and attracted 300 people within the property industry at this successful PCA Breakfast. WGE: Creating pathways during construction

The new walkway link at Melbourne Airport is complete, which passengers will walk along between the Virgin & Tiger/Rex Terminals, for the next two years until the new T4 is built. WGE are proud to have designed the structural elements of this walkway. The link is about 150m long, with 11 modules, all raised 5m in the air to suit existing airport terminal levels. WGE are proud to have been involved with the reconstructed Busselton Toyota showroom. The project was to create a custom made showroom and offices which now accommodates various departments. MBA Excellence Awards Dinner was held on 8 March and Innovest Construction won the “Commercial Alterations Additions and Restorations category $1,000,000 - $2,000,000 and the Best Steel Building/Excellence in Structural Steel award for this project. Melbourne WGE win PCA golf day

On Friday 7 March, 120 golfers took part in the annual Property Council Golf Day sponsored by Harris HMC. The event was held at Woodlands Golf Course, in Mordialloc, with the course in pristine condition following their recent club championships. The WGE team consisted of Cormac Kelly and George Samaras from WGE and Peter Sullivan and Andrew Tucker from Cox Architecture.
