
WGE assisted Ertech in a major redesign of the Marmion Angling and Aquatic Club (MAAC) in 2015 which improved accessibility to the beach and upgraded the parking capacity from 42 to 82 bays. Ertech was recognised with the Excellence in Civil award at the recent event held to honour the industry’s leading firms and innovative projects. Well done to the whole project team!
WGE provided Civil, Structural, Electrical and Hydraulics services for this challenging project on Perth’s northern coastline. One of the challenges of the project was to allow for the busy coastal footpath to remain open for the duration of the work. The solution, was a soil nail wall which suited the contractor’s methodology and enabled continued public access. On the sea side, a cantilevered beam and slab arrangement supported off piles to the bedrock was implemented.
The structure was designed to extend over the existing sea wall protection installed 20 years ago. Project challenges included:
