WGE continues to be involved in one of the largest inner city residential developments in Australia. The completed project will house over 2,200 apartments over 4 high-rise towers and include an estimated 30 retail outlets.

The Upper West Side project creates a rare opportunity to be part of an entirely new precinct in the new heart of Melbourne. Bordered by Spencer, Lonsdale, Little Bourke Streets and Rose Alley, this sculptural and iconic addition will reinvigorate an entire pocket of Melbourne.

The project is broken down into different towers aiming for, and obtaining, different sustainable ratings.

• The Tower 1 project has been awarded the first ever Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star Multi-Unit Residential V1 Design rating (4 Stars).
• The Upper West Side Tower 2 project recently received a Multi-Unit Residential V1 Design rating (4 Stars).
• Tower 3 and Tower 4 are also targeting 4 Star Green Star Design ratings utilising the Multi-Unit Residential V1 tool.

The Upper West Side - Stage 1 project was recognised for its adaption of innovative concepts such as the incorporation of a recycling waste chute and the design of a water efficient indoor pool.

The project also includes other sustainable initiatives such as:

• An average 6 Star NatHERS (FirstRate 5) Rating.
• Energy efficient double glazing.
• An energy efficient indoor pool incorporating air-to-air and water-to-water heat exchangers.
• A podium green roof design which incorporates outdoor communal facilities.
