Proximity Hamilton, a residential waterfront development on the Brisbane River, is situated in Portside Wharf in Brisbane. The building is one of eight and is positioned at one of the main gateways to the site.
This impressive residential development consists of:
- Fifteen stories plus a basement level
- A total of 127 apartments comprising 1 bedroom, 1 bedroom plus study and 2 bedroom apartments
- A ground level with residential, retail and building manager facilities
- Mixed use areas on level 1 and 2 consisting of car parking, recreation and residential
- An outdoor swimming pool and deck for residents on level 1
- A landscaped podium with private terraces on level 3
The mechanical design WGE undertook included air-conditioning to all living, dining and master bedroom areas, with exhaust air from each apartment being discharged horizontally from the façade.
The mechanical design incorporated a mechanical car park exhaust that required careful consideration to be given to the position and height of the car park discharge so as not to create a nuisance to passing occupants. Similarly, a close working relationship with the landscape consultant resulted in the car park air intakes being discreetly incorporated into a number of ground floor planter / seating areas.
In addition, as the building is one of a group of towers in the area, the architect was determined to have no plant visible on the roof. As a result WGE had to ensure the two stair pressurisation and mechanical relief systems, refuse exhaust systems and corridor supply systems all fitted within the core at level 15. Careful co-ordination with the WGE electrical and hydraulic teams ensured this was achieved with minimal impact to the external façade.
