In response to strong industry growth in Queensland, WGE’s Brisbane office has recently welcomed three new staff to the team. We are pleased to welcome Michael Lanchester, Michael Ossipow and Rob Sansbury who bring a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge to WGE.
Michael Lanchester
Michael Lanchester has joined the Brisbane office as Acoustics Section Manager to lead the newly established Acoustic Engineering Section. In response to industry growth and client demand, expert advice on building and environmental acoustics will now be offered locally on projects in Queensland.
With over 20 years’ experience in acoustic consulting, Michael has extensive knowledge in delivering creative acoustic design solutions that achieve the optimum balance between technical accuracy and cost effectiveness. He has a strong portfolio of projects with a particular background in the health, commercial, education and defence sectors.
Outside of work
On the weekend Michael enjoys riding local mountain bike trails and the Brisbane river loop, roasting coffee, camping or trying out new recipes on his family. Michael says if he wasn’t an engineer, he would be a pilot as he enjoys technical aspects of aviation and flying.
Michael Ossipow
Michael Ossipow is the new Hydraulic Section Manager at WGE’s Brisbane office.
Michael has 25 years’ experience in hydraulic and wet fire consultancy functions, from research, feasibility studies and cost effective design, to commissioning and regulatory authority responsibilities.
It is encouraged to everyone in his team to contribute to the effectiveness of the documentation that is produced. This helps to maintain pride and commitment from employees, which is inevitably transferred to our valued Client.
Outside of work
Michael is a keen AFL and NRL follower and supporting live music. He enjoys travelling with his family to city and country destination but is most happy when there are bush walking tracks or swimming holes to explore. As well as supporting charities including UNICEF and Surf Life Saving Queensland, Michael would one day like to set up his own charity.
Rob Sansbury
Rob has recently joined the Brisbane office as a Senior Civil Project Engineer. He brings 26 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry in Australia and South Africa and has a special interest in subterranean utility infrastructure.
Rob was part of the committee for Australian Standard AS 5488-2013 Classification of Subsurface Utility Information and is currently working with industry leaders to review and improve the standard. With a wealth of experience in engaging with local government authorities, Rob is looking forward to advancing WGE’s work in this sector.
Outside of work
Rob has a wife, two daughters, three Swiss white shepherds, 12 chickens, two ducks, two Guinea fowl and a goose. It is no surprise that he comes from a long line of farmers and is passionate about spending time with his family in the country.
Rob says if he hadn’t pursued a career in engineering, he would’ve joined the air force and learned how to fly helicopters. After a few lessons, Rob is hooked on the exhilaration of holding the controls and feeling the power at his fingertips.
