Hydraulic Project Engineer, Principal

Ben has over 20 years’ experience in the plumbing and construction industry, with over 10 years design experience across Australia, South East Asia and UAE. Ben began his plumbing trade career in 1994 gaining experience in the construction and maintenance of residential, commercial and industrial facilities. Ben began his design career in April 2004 with George Floth Pty Ltd in Brisbane.

In December 2005, Ben joined Wood & Grieve Engineers in the Brisbane office. Ben responded to a call for assistance to help out the Perth office in February 2008 for a 3 month period. Seven years on and Ben is still in the Perth office so could be considered a permanent addition to the Perth office.

Ben became an Associate of Wood & Grieve Engineers in 2012, a Principal in 2013 and is a senior person within the company. Ben will be responsible for managing all aspects of the hydraulic services provided by this office.

What will you bring to a project

With over 20 years of experience in the hydraulic industry, including both contracting and design, I will ensure that the most effective and innovative hydraulic solutions are brought to the table. With both my expertise in design and construction processes and my ability to explicate Client requirements allow me to provide the best service to all project stakeholders.

Outside work

Outside of work Ben has his hands full with the training and rehabilitation of two rescued Weimaraners (Sweetie & Marlot) who ensure there are no weekend sleep-ins and plenty of outdoor activities including rally-o, beach meets and bush outings.

Previous projects

  • The Landing Resort, Port Hedland - One of Australia’s largest tourism development with a strong eco sustainability focus, across from the Port Hedland Airport involving 280 rooms across the two and three storey “Village” precinct, two new six storey hotels comprising 250 beds and 170 beds respectively, a six storey commercial center incorporating public cyclone shelter and communal gym, backpacker accommodation and restaurant buildings.
  • Kalgoorlie Health Campus Redevelopment - The project consists of a number of phases including; phase 1, the construction of a palliative care ward, phase 2, a new emergency and medical imaging department, and the phase 3 administration building redevelopment for outpatients facilities and cancer center.
  • Carnarvon Police & Justice Complex - This new complex has been designed to bring together the courts, police and community and youth justice services into one facility with a strong civic presence as well as welcoming and friendly spaces.
