David has been involved in the Hydraulic Industry for 30 years. His education commenced with a plumbing trade in Adelaide and from there he has developed his in-depth knowledge through a variety of major projects involved in the design specification and management of commercial, health, aged care, residential and industrial projects.
David joined WGE in 2004 to begin the Hydraulic and Fire Protection Section for their Sydney office. He brought with him a wealth of experience with a sound history in contracting, design and project management. During this time David accepted the role as President of the Association of Hydraulic Consultants Australia (AHSCA-NSW) which represents the Hydraulic industry. He has accepted many positions on National training and education committees including Standards Australia and the Property council of Australia (PCA). He provides advice to Sydney Water and the Department of Fair Trading on policy and new programs being implemented. His repeat client base is a testimony to his dedication to the Industry.
Under David’s management, the Sydney office of WGE have the largest hydraulic and fire section in any single office.
“I am very proud to have this wealth of experience in our section, and will continue to develop and mentor our staff to be the best they can”.
David stepped down as Section Manager in 2018, after well over a decade of leadership.
The most successful projects are those where the team have a common cause and listen to the needs of the client. I feel I have developed an ability to listen and make decisions based on the good of the whole project. This is also reflected in the management style I project to my immediate staff and those within the office structure. With this empathy, I seem to get the best from my staff and the general project team.
David leads a very energetic life outside of normal work hours, including camping, fishing, cooking and generally enjoying the “good life”.
