With a background in general construction and an expansive knowledge of the building services spectrum, Elliot joined WGE in 2006 and has over 10 years’ experience in delivering highly technical systems and solutions in the Commercial, Technology, Renewables and Industrial sectors. Concentrating on client goals, Elliot is happy to challenge standard design and introduce innovation where it will add value in terms of efficiency, safety, speed of delivery or cost savings.
Elliot takes a holistic approach to construction and focuses on communication as the crucial element in co-ordinating a productive and successful design experience. His informed and friendly approach enables the resolution of complex services integration issues arising between equipment suppliers and key users, stakeholders and services contractors, making him a valuable asset on a project team. Elliot’s unique blend of knowledge, practicality and creativity has been recognised formally throughout his career:
• 2017; Engineers Australia – named one of “Australia’s most innovative engineers… turning innovative ideas into reality”, for Perth City Link Busport security;
• 2010; Engineering Alliance Award, Engineers Australia, for contribution to Uterne Solar Power Station, Alice Springs;
• 2009; Award for Excellence, Illuminating Engineers Society, Australia, for Wesley Church lighting design.
I like to build relationships of trust with clients, contractors and stakeholders and to offer practical and buildable solutions that will meet the project goals. Innovation for me, is not about installing the latest trend, but in examining alternatives, looking at the options that will deliver in the long-term, or that will really create a positive impact on the overall project.
Elliot enjoys the outdoors, building, renovating, and will take on operating any piece of equipment from a red pen and ruler to a CAT loader. Elliot’s hobbies include electronics and wasting money on his 4×4.

The research and analysis work you have done was then pulled together at very short notice into what was a very impressive presentation on Monday. Both the Komatsu attendees and myself were impressed by the clarity with which the information was presented, the extent of technical work that went into it and the clear outputs. This was especially important as technical issues can often get lost in translation across the cultural and language divide. This has greatly assisted Komatsu in their ability to make informed decisions on these items and helps me keep the design on programme.
