Hock has coordinated this complex project across six offices, co-sharing the project office with the client

Port Macquarie Airport upgrade – Hock was the project leader for the detail design and documentation of the upgrading works at Port Macquarie Airport to permit the introduction of EMB170 jet aircraft on RPT routes. The upgrading work included pavement strengthening based on asphalt overlay on the existing runway, taxiway and apron pavements. The work was done at night whist maintaining daily traffic

Second Sydney Airport EIS – Hock was part of the team responsible for the configuration option study and preliminary designs for a proposed new international airport at Badgery Creek and Holsworthy Military Reserve Site for Commonwealth DOTAR, providing key technical inputs into EIS process. The brief was to handle 360,000 annual aircraft movements.

The project included a radical concept clustering aircraft around retail/departure ‘nodes’ and the integration of retail seating areas with departure gates. The highly awarded project has been recognized for its strong passenger appeal and retail performance. The project delivery to programmed schedule and at a high standard of construction. Other associated services including line-marking, airfield lighting, drainage, pollution control flame traps, electrical services and associated ducts, potable water and engineer hut

Port Botany expansion – new container terminal fit-out on 45 hectares of reclaimed land. Hock was the design manager for the concept and detail design of the onshore works involving pavement, buildings, high voltage substations, structures, drainage, ground improvement, drainage, portainer cranes, yard equipment, additional rail siding. The brand new terminal with the state of the art, semi-automated container stacking yards was in full Operations from 2014. Client testimonials

When the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (the airport operator) received a positive indication that Virgin Airlines would commence EMB170, RPT operations in the New Year, as Airport Manager I had 13 weeks to coordinate the airport upgrade design, build and commission runway, taxiways and RPT apron (a $13 million project). With such a time line the pressure was on and we had tremendous support from Hock and his team to effectively deliver the project on time, on budget.

As Airport Manager for Port Macquarie Airport I was pleased to accept the award for the “Best Regional Airport of the Year - 2009” by the Australian Airports Association, which was testament to the success that Hock and his team’s hard work and devotion to deliver our upgrade project in the timely and cost effective manner.
