Johan commenced his career in South Africa in the electrical engineering field in 1979. After immigrating to Australia Johan commenced his career with WGE as an electrical project engineer in 1999. In 2002, Johan was appointed Corporate Services Manager, Company Secretary and Quality Manager of the firm. He became a principal of WGE in 2004, and in 2005 he relocated to Brisbane to open the Queensland office where he was made a Director.

What will you bring to a project

My passion is to instill a sense of pride in my team to deliver quality projects which they want to advertise on their CV’s in bold and to build relationships with clients who will insist having WGE on their next project.

Outside work

Johan, his wife and two children immigrated to Australia in 1997. Johan loves surfing, waterskiing, building and flying radio control helicopters and planes, woodwork and trying his hand at fishing.

Previous projects

  • Jervoise Bay Marine Complex - The main building in this complex is a 80m x 60m x 40m fully transportable work shop on sets of bogies which needed all services connected to it operational when locked down at 12.5m intervals. The main challenge was for some of the services, such as fire detection, to remain operational while the building is being moved along the track.
  • Woolworths Regional Distribution Centre Larapinta - This project is one of the largest industrial facilities in south east Queensland. It comprised 72,000m² of ambient and refrigerated warehousing, 85,000m² of circulation roads and parking, plus offices, goods receipt/dispatch facilities as well as plant and services buildings.
