Mark’s career commenced in Ireland as an Electrician, eventually managing his own business while he studied Electrical Services Engineering. Relocating to Perth in 2011, WGE was delighted to welcome him to the Electrical team where his enthusiasm and practical knowledge of the industry contributes to a pragmatic approach to design. Mark has a robust grasp of code and a can-do attitude towards issues, making him popular with clients as he identifies effective solutions. He was promoted to Project Engineer in recognition and latterly invited to become an Associate at WGE in 2015 and then a Principal in 2019.
Whilst he is a passionate advocate for renewable energy, Mark adopts a rational approach to implementation, verifying that clients are gaining financially as well as environmentally. He has developed good relationships with supply authorities and, amongst the committees on which he serves, he represents the construction industry in a Solar PV working group facilitated by Western Power. Highly regarded in his specialist field, Mark speaks regularly at events on renewable energy matters.
I like to get involved right at the start of the project, in the concept design stage – that’s where we earn our keep as engineers, by finding a good footing in the design and helping our clients in the journey to their preferred solution.
Mark enjoys playing social basketball and avoiding cooking wherever possible. He loves to spend his weekends with his DIY hat on or hacking up a golf course, preferably with those equally as terrible. He is also Wood & Grieve Engineer’s number one FIFA player on the Playstation platform.
