Rowan is a chartered structural engineer with over 21 years of local, interstate and international experience. Rowan has been a company Director since 2010 and has managed the Perth Structural section since 2005. Rowan was made a Principal of WGE in 2004 following his establishment of the WGE Melbourne Structural section in 2003. Prior to this, he spent two years working for a consultancy in Dublin and operated a Project Engineer within our Perth and Albany offices. Rowan has been at Wood & Grieve Engineers since 1996 and has been a part of the firm’s growth from 50 to 500 people.
Rowan has a wide breadth of experience in structural engineering and construction across a broad range of areas including education, low and high rise residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and public facility. Rowan also has a forensic engineering, expert witness and heritage focus. As a registered Builder, Rowan is a particularly practical Structural Engineer and clear communicator.
Despite his wider corporate responsibilities, Rowan retains his passion and enthusiasm for hands-on engineering. He is still actively engaged in personally leading a wide range of projects.
I bring 21 years of national and international structural & civil consulting to the table. I am also a registered builder and combine my practical, hands -on approach with my wealth of engineering experience. I am an experienced team leader, reliable, naturally service oriented, determined and I always operate with a big picture perspective. I have an overarching responsibility for structural review and verification within the firm and my involvement in your project assures you that our solutions will be commercially astute, thoroughly thought through and verified.
Rowan is a compulsive builder and handyman outside of work, committed family man (three young boys), enjoys a good wine and indulges his musical passions as lead guitarist and vocalist in the much vaunted blues, rock band – The Subdividers (www.thesubdividersband.com)! He will travel the world in search of the right guitar…

A number of unforseen site issues emerged during the course of the construction, particularly during the foundation stage. Rowan and his team were quick to attend site, provide clear advice and work with us to resolve any issues during this critical phase. The same proactive approach was taken through to completion of the structure.
Where documentation was contradicting between consultants W&G; were quick to provide answers and solutions to prevent any delays to the works on site. The quality of construction documentation was good and served to minimise the number of site queries and any frustration that we may have otherwise experienced.
