What will you bring to a project

A driving force behind my approach to my work is the desire to apply all the tricks and tools available to achieve an economical and practical design solution that allows my clients to realize their vision for the final product. I really enjoy being part of the design process and derives satisfaction from working closely with all parties to achieve the best outcome for the job.

Outside work

Tim enjoys getting down to the coast to surf at any opportunity, going to the footy to support the mighty Cats and traveling the world with his lovely wife Alicia (this also includes dragging her around to various structures of interest in exotic locations!).

Previous projects

Australia Post,Latrobe Regional Hospital Redevelopment,Williams Landing,The Laureate, Albert Park,Zara, Melbourne,Melbourne Airport Inbound Baggage Handling,,,A high-end development of 46 boutique two and three story townhouses was delivered on a fast tracked program to allow all structure to be complete in less than 18 months. The project exemplifies Tim’s collaborative working approach with both the development, design and construction sides of a project.,The flagship Melbourne Zara store saw two heritage buildings in the Bourke St Mall combined to provide the floor area and layout required the international retail giant. The structural solution required assessment and modification (including significant structural upgrade) of one of the oldest structures in Melbourne that featured a basement. Close collaboration with the builder and project manager during construction was vital and was successfully implemented by Tim and his team.,Tim led a multi-disciplinary team to retro fit a new baggage handling system in and around the constraints of the existing facility. Implementation of a 3d documentation solution and staged design saw a successful switch over to the new equipment without disruption to the Airports capacity.

Client testimonials

I would like to commend Wood & Grieve Engineers for their coordinated and thorough approach to delivering each project listed above and note that the engineering team, generally led by Tim Mansfield (Structural Services), provided a consistently excellent level of service for the project duration. Wood & Grieve Engineers knowledge of the Airport building structure, existing services and infrastructure, Airport internal procedures and protocols, and the specific attention given to coordinating the new building works with the wider airport conditions allowed BCS to successfully delivery each of the projects listed above.

Greg Wright, BCS Airport System Pty Ltd

Wood & Grieve Engineers provided Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic design and documentation services for the project and we would like to express our appreciation for their assistance and professionalism. The number of queries and variations received on the project were generally minimal and when arose were promptly attended to by the Wood & Grieve team, helping to ensure the project remained on programme and budget.
In particular, we would like to thank Tim Mansfield (who lead the Wood & Grieve team) and Daniel Yap of the Structural and Civil team for their positive and proactive attitude during the entire project duration. Their ability to resolve problems quickly and to the satisfaction of both the contractor and architect was greatly appreciated. Again, this helped ensure a project that was on time, on budget and an overall enjoyable experience for the entire team involved in the project.
