Opal Tower

Opal Tower is a 400-apartment residential development situated in the Sydney Olympic Park. The development is the tallest in the area and boasts 360 degree views across Sydney. The WGE team were involved in the full design and shop drawing documentation for the hydraulic services which involved detailed coordination with the construction team as well as advice to the contractors. The large structural offsets at the base of the towers created a particular challenge. Ronald McDonald House, South Brisbane

Ronald McDonald House is a 13 level mixed-use residential building located in the children’s hospital precinct in South Brisbane. It offers temporary accommodation for families with sick children using nearby healthcare services. The development is comprised of retail, car parking, various communal facilities and accommodation. Project features: Using WGE propriety acoustic software allowed the design team to experience and monitor the virtual sound of the spaces before they were built to ensure optimum acoustic performance. The Pacifica, Auckland

The Pacifica is set to become Auckland’s tallest skyscraper, rising to 178m on Commerce Street. The 57 level development includes five levels of penthouse apartments. The building will have a lap pool, spa, gym, yoga studio, media room, residents’ lounge, library and barbecue terrace along with a 35-suite hotel. Bowlers Green Apartments, Geelong

Bowlers Green is a mixed development located at the former West Geelong Bowling Club. It features 60 townhouses and an apartment building which has a public café overlooking the adjacent park. WGE provided overall infrastructure masterplanning and documentation for the entire site, and provided full engineering for the apartment building, which has 30 apartments over three levels, a single storey basement, café, and extensive landscaping and garden beds providing both privacy and acting as a continuation of the adjacent parklands. Regis Inala Retirement Village - Building D

WGE are assisting Regis Aged Care redevelop their Inala site in Blackburn South, on Middleborough Road. Our Civil team are leading the site-wide enabling works to reconfigure the site’s base infrastructure in preparation for major redevelopment occurring across the site. Ellenbrook North Senior School - Solar PV

This project involved a 592.64kW solar PV system for Ellenbrook North Senior School - one of the largest rooftop installations on the Western Power Network, generating enough electricity to power 150 homes. WGE designed the electrical protection, interconnection and controls system in relation to the solar PV system. The team also completed the application for grid connection of the power station and obtained approval from Western Power for unconstrained access to their network. Tribe Hotel, West Perth

The Tribe Hotel development is a nine- storey hotel development consisting of 120 modular hotel rooms. The project was volumetrically constructed off site and delivered as fully complete hotel rooms on site in West Perth. The use of modular construction allowed for an accelerated construction program and enhanced quality outcomes.

Rare Hare Restaurant, Willow Creek Winery

The project involved the refurbishment of the existing restaurant and tasting area of the winery. New kitchen, wood-fire oven, bars and internal spaces enhance visitor experience of the vineyard and the winery’s barrel room. Considerable detail went in to achieving the architectural intent of the spaces as many existing building constraints created challenges for all services.

EVEN Hotel, Auckland

The first EVEN Hotel to be built outside the US will be constructed in Auckland on the former New Zealand Herald site. The 37-storey tower will transform Auckland’s skyline and includes both the EVEN and Holiday Inn Express brands. Martumili Art Gallery, Newman

Martumili Art Gallery in Newman is a mixed use gallery building, containing exhibition spaces, art storage, administration offices, meeting facilities and 120m2 residence, all contained within a 1700m2 steel portal frame shed. The facility designed for use by local indigenous artists. WGE provided design, documentation and project management services, delivering the project within budget and program with cost and energy efficient building services. Efficiencies were gained through rainwater storage to minimise water consumption, with the installation of a 130kL rainwater storage tank within the shed structure to treat and reuse rainwater to supply toilets and laundry fixtures. The Bristol Apartments project involved 42 new apartments over five storeys and a split-level basement with car stackers. Bank of Melbourne, 525 Collins Street

The project involved the retail fitout of a bank branch in the Melbourne CBD. WGE were the sustainability consultants and Green Star Accredited Professionals for the project, targeting a 6 Star Green Star Interiors v1.1 rating. WGE delivered the 6 Star rating in the Round 1 submission with 80 points, 5 more than required for a 6 Star Green Star Rating. Jackalope Hotel

The project involved the construction of a luxury hotel and swimming pool, restaurant and functions centre at the existing Willow Creek Winery. The Port Macquarie Base Hospital expansion project is a $110m extension of the existing facility, commissioned by NSW Health Infrastructure and constructed by Watpac Constructions in the growing regional city of Port Macquarie. The project included a new perioperative department that incorporated nine operating rooms, a cardiovascular interventional theatre and a new central sterilising and support department.
