The project involves the construction of an eight-storey residential building, with two levels of basement car parking, all to provide 100 new apartments. WGE are providing structural design services. The project is being constructed directly adjacent to Sydney Trains rail lines and as such required special consideration of the potential for train impact on the building.

Design features in response to site challenges include:

  • Lower levels adjoining the train line have been designed to resist the impact of a train and still remain stable
  • Basement excavations alongside the train lines required three dimensional analysis and the design of stiff retention systems to satisfy Sydney Trains stringent requirements
  • The project was documented in three dimensions using REVIT software
