This project involved the fit-out of Levels 1-6 within International House Sydney, Barangaroo South. WGE delivered the acoustic design for the new integrated fitout, with a significant challenging of integration. The fitout concept plan required integration with the base building’s timber structure.
International House Sydney is set to become the first and largest commercial engineered timber building using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glulam in Australia.
One of the key features was the connection of an internal partition with the timber columns located around the floor plate, together with the connection between the timber column and the façade itself. The building is earthed via a steel ribbon fixed to the timber column around the perimeter of the building. The connection of internal partitions to the façade had to be developed in a manner that would not compromise the earthing of the building.
The second key feature was to manage vibration transmission through the timber structure from mechanical equipment. Vibration testing was conducted on the timber structure and access floor in order to provide recommendations mitigating vibration transfer from mechanical equipment throughout the building.
