The Barangaroo precinct is the largest commercial project that has occurred in NSW over the last decade. This project includes three 40-storey towers with a NLA of 100,000m² of office space located in Sydney’s CBD.

As part of the 6 Star Green Star target for each tower, WGE was engaged to complete the design and commissioning of a sound masking system.

The Barangaroo towers rely on chilled beams for mechanical cooling which are extremely quiet. In order to achieve the required ambient noise level/range to achieve Green Star certification, a sound-masking system was designed to increase the ambient noise level to within the acceptable range. The sound masking system and success of the design and commissioning was a critical item in LendLease obtaining 6 Star Green Star certification.

Project features:

• Co-ordination and post-commissioning of a sound masking system for the Barangaroo C4 Tower which comprised 40 floors of approximately 2,500m2
• Designing and commissioning a sound masking system for the T2 commercial tower at Barangaroo South
• Co-ordination and delivery of the biggest sound-masking system installed in Sydney
