The project requires construction of a new Day Surgery over two storeys with semi-basement level car parking. The facility will consist of four operating theatres, rehabilitation services and consulting suites for medical specialists.

Design challenges:

Due to being built over a potential underground mine site, provisions had to be made to accommodate potential subsidence movements. This was achieved through the design of flexible joints to services and a central building movement joint. The upper floors were also designed to be lifted back to their original positions through specially designed columns, should severe subsidence occur from proposed mine works.
