This project involved the relocation of the Gilbert & Tobin office to new facilities at Barangaroo, Sydney. The main challenge was to transition a law firm from a traditional single office layout to an open plan layout. The project was approximately 10,000m2 split across four floors of international Towers.
Design features:
- An acoustic strategy was designed to deal with the fully open work spaces. WGE was also involved in designing a sound masking system to target the control of background noise level across the fit-out.
- The Fire and Hydraulic services included sprinklers, fire hydrants, smoke detection, occupant warning (EWIS), fire hose reels and portable fire extinguisher designs.
- The structural component involved detailed design of iconic cantilevered stairs spanning the four office floors with cantilevered glass balustrades.
- WGE also provided structural review on the heavy floor loadings on the existing slab to accommodate client requirements for fit-out works.
