Sydney’s Green Square Town Centre is the first new town centre in Sydney for the last 100 years. WGE’s team have worked with the Green Square Consortium over the last five years, providing civil engineering services for remediation, enabling works, construction support and expert advice.

WGE’s involvement included:

• Remediation of the town centre site
• Essential infrastructure works including public roads and utilities
• Flood assessment
• Development lot civil services
• Staging advice
• Expert advice during construction

With the Green Square Town Centre project located within one of Sydney’s oldest industrial areas, numerous site constraints and challenges included:

• Historical industrial land use left much of the site contaminated
• The site’s historical use as a brick pit meant much of the site was filled with uncontrolled fill
• The site was heavily flood affected
• Interface with substantial existing utility infrastructure

WGE and the Green Square Consortium worked proactively together to resolve design and construction challenges throughout the project.
