Built in 1936, London Court is an open-roofed shopping arcade that runs between Hay Street Mall and St George’s Terrace in Perth’s CBD and features a mock Elizabethan façade with gated entrances and distinctive clock. WGE was asked to undertake an electrical infrastructure upgrade of the mall, which ranges over 3 and 4 storeys.
The challenge on this project was to preserve the heritage aesthetic of the building whilst replacing the sub mains and distribution board infrastructure, plus upgrade of the fire detection system and emergency lighting. The structure offers limited cable access, so creative ways were found to reticulate the cable and retrofit the new distribution board within the existing enclosure. Wireless smoke detectors avoided the need for surface mounted conduits and we liaised with DFES on the location of the Fire Indicator Panel to maintain the Elizabethan façade.
WGE worked closely with the client and contractor to ensure timely project delivery.
