Parkes Hospital is located within the Lachlan health District and provides acute and sub-acute services including emergency, obstetric, paediatric, general medical and surgical services to the community. The redevelopment comprised of a new facility on a new site in the Parkes township to replace the old Parkes hospital. WGE provided the electrical and acoustic services to the project including:
- Electrical services infrastructure such as a new site substation, new generator, new site Main Switchroom and centralised UPS room on a greenfield site
- Involvement from schematic design to final completion which also included the shop drawings for the electrical contractor
- Noise site survey and provide design input to the masterplan for the site
- Acoustic design from schematic design stage through to construction
Project challenges:
- Acoustic design noise from heavy traffic on the main road located to the south of the site
- Dealing with helicopter noise and helipad location in close proximity from the emergency department
- Coordination with all the other consultants which was overcome by using Revit
