This project is a luxury hotel located on the edge of the historic Port Arthur site, replacing the existing motel.
The development is designed to have minimal impact on the surroundings, whilst maximising panoramic views of the historic site.
WGE were engaged from concept to construction to provide electrical, fire protection, hydraulics, mechanical, specialist lighting and sustainability services for this project.
To achieve the architectural intent and focus on the historic site, a bespoke specialist lighting design was used which utilised local materials tying in with the history of the Port Arthur site.
Project challenges:
The minimalist design presented challenges for WGE in integrating services into the building in keeping with the pared back design. This was achieved with subtle recessed lighting and diffusion and concealment of all services, where feasible.
