The transformation of Raine Square in Perth’s CBD will result in a seven-days-a-week entertainment, dining and retail precinct, incorporating 40 retail stores, a 12-screen cinema complex and boutique hotel. The development required the demolition and substantial refurbishment of existing structures across the precinct. The extent of the refurbishment runs below the office tower block therefore construction methodology, delivery constraints and noise issues all had to be considered to minimise disruption.
The variety of challenges on this project included retaining heritage facades and forming a basement in a constrained city site while creating smart, efficient and cost effective structural solutions to allow the alterations to the existing post tensioned concrete structure. The new structural insertions were well considered to minimise disruption to the surrounding active areas. WGE worked closely with the D&C contractor to respond to the day to day issues which inevitably arise on such projects.
