This significant heritage listed university landmark was originally built in 1906. In recent years the building had deteriorated and was not the vibrant and engaging centre for sport that was befitting of the University of Melbourne. WGE were engaged for the design of civil, electrical, fire protection, hydraulics, mechanical, structural and sustainability engineering consulting services.
The project was fully documented in Revit, a 3D modelling program that allows the user to build and structuralise a project in its entirety, allowing for greater coordination capabilities and significantly increased efficiency. See below for a fly-through of the project.
The $5 million development consisted of the refurbishment of the original heritage elements and the construction of a new function room, bar and kiosk, commercial kitchen, club kitchen, storage areas, trainer’s rooms, change rooms, ice baths along and deck and BBQ area.
