The Vantage Estate development on the Queensland central coast has been one of Peet Ltd’s most successful developments in the Queensland market over the last 3 years. Yielding around 570 lots, this residential development located in the regional town of Gladstone incorporated significant earthwork challenges with major cut and fill operations required across the site. Using supplied geotechnical information, the team carefully modelled underlying rock layers within 12D design to try and minimise the extent of rock excavation required as part of the bulk earthworks exercise. This modelling enabled the team to significantly minimise the construction costs for the client.

With a further 5 stages left in the development, WGE have masterplanned the future earthworks requirements to again reduce construction costs by minimising double handling of the material on site.

The development incorporates a large stormwater detention basin with a staged discharge arrangement using a nest of culverts and overflow weirs. Carefully modelled using the DRAINS program, this discharge arrangement helped to reduce the size of the detention structure needed, thus providing more development space and greater lot yield.
