The Williams Landing Town Centre will provide the recently established master planned residential development, Williams Landing, with an important part of their new community. Williams Landing is located within 20km of Melbourne’s CBD and will ultimately consist of 2,500 homes with integrated parklands and numerous walking and cycling trails. The development represents a $1.5billion dollar investment in one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia.

The shopping centre will include:

  • Over 13,000m² of hardstand pavement area for carparking and internal roadways.
  • Speciality retail stores and commercial offices over 10,000m² (GFA).
  • A full scale supermarket.
  • An innovative building solution with a focus on technology and sustainability.
  • An aspiration to deliver a ‘smart centre’ in a ‘smart city’.

WGE have been engaged by the developer to provide full engineering services (civil, structural and building services) to achieve the desired outcomes for the town centre.

Features of the civil engineering services provided include:

  • Flood risk analysis and flood mitigation design to protect the proposed shopping complex from overland flows.
  • Bulk earthworks design.
  • Stormwater drainage and pavement design.
  • Geometric kerb and road design.

Additionally, careful and thorough design consideration was given to the future integration of further stages of the development.

The team also provided high level documentation and a near complete resolution of engineering issues for the purpose of a design and construct procurement methodology post-tender.
