Jingarri – a Ngarluma word for ‘happiness’

This new high quality modern residential estate, located just off Dampier Highway in Karratha, provided the Perth Underground Power section with just that ‘happiness’ in working with a fantastic team to deliver a much needed reprieve to the struggling housing market in Karratha.

The client’s vision was to cultivate a vibrant, strong, sustainable community with the provision of a range of residential lots and diversity of housing to cater for all walks of life.

WGE provided underground power consulting services to all 4 stages of the 220 lot estate developed over a 2 year period. Builders were offered pre-release of lots before the general release of lots enabling the construction of homes whilst the development was progressing. It is not often you are able to deliver a land development to practical completion with the homes on the lots complete and ready for habitation.

Sustainability was high on the agenda for the estate with an emphasis on minimising the impact of the development on the environment. Sustainable initiatives were developed over time and included:

• Varying lot sizes.
• Maximizing solar orientation.
• The provision of LED roadway lighting which WGE incorporated into the development as Horizon Power assets.

The project also involved the installation of a pathway for the National Broadband Network (NBN) services and the development of an underground power distribution network which accommodated the planned voltage upgrade in Karratha energising the estate at 22kV. Quality design and construction methods along with strong relationships with supply authorities enabled the design team to seek early release of titles allowing the beginning of a vibrant community to function upon handover.
