The Whiddon Group is embarking on a phased expansion of their Aged Care Facilities at their site in Glenfield, south of Sydney. This expansion is being staged to allow for minimal impact on existing residents and was fully documented using REVIT software to allow for easy changes as the project progresses.
Current plans involve the construction of a new 160 bedroom facility to be constructed in two phases from late 2013 through to early 2015. Stage 1 will involve the construction of a two storey bedroom wing, encompassing the new building’s main entrance and café, along with below ground car parking.
Stage 2 will involve the demolition of an existing single storey residential building, following relocation of the current residents into the completed Stage 1 wing, and the subsequent construction of a new two storey wing on the same footprint. The two wings have been designed to allow for the phased construction, including detailing to facilitate seamless connection of the Stage 2 wing to the previously completed Stage 1 element.
WGE worked in conjunction with Jackson Teece Architects to produce efficient, fully co-ordinated design documentation for tender and construction purposes.
Client Testimonial
"Wood & Grieve proved pro-active in the initial concept design stage and continually strived for the best outcome when faced with challenges and changes thereafter.Thought and consideration was given to interface with other design disciplines and flexibility required to ensure that the client could adapt the building’s uses and demands in the future.Design documentation was accurate and punctual in production and any glitches requiring resolution were highlighted in good time and sound recommendations for resolution."
