Sydney team welcomes new Fire Engineering Section Manager

In response to client demand for expertise in fire engineering, Lloyd Wilkinson has recently been appointed as Fire Engineering Section Manager at WGE’s Sydney office. This is the first time Sydney office has had a locally based, dedicated fire engineer.

Lloyd specialises in complex modelling for fire engineering, including computational fluid dynamic techniques for smoke development in spaces, such as airport hangers, train stations, warehouses, atriums, apartments and shopping malls.

Lloyd has a strong interest in expanding the boundaries of architectural design by combining the cutting edge international research with state of the art Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and human behaviour /evacuation modelling. He has applied his work in CFD with research on open plan apartment design and mechanical ventilation for extended travel distances in residential common corridors. Lloyd has experience across a range of sectors including infrastructure, retail, health, residential, commercial and sporting venues.

Sydney Office Manager Joe Walsh says Lloyd’s experience in working closely with other engineering disciplines makes him a valuable asset for the WGE team. “Lloyd brings technical skills and a wide range of experience that will enhance the service we provide to clients,” he said.

Lloyd says he is looking forward to joining the Sydney office and further developing applications for smoke modelling on WGE projects. “WGE are pursuing some exciting projects across NSW and I look forward to working with the rest of the team to bring them to life,” he said.
