Brighton, Victoria has a new architectural masterpiece on the way with the addition of 30 Esplanade, a suite of 24 town homes located on Brighton’s highly coveted waterfront. These 3-storey residences showcase curving features and an abundance of timber to create a sophisticated design with a nod to natural coastal elements.
Melbourne is experiencing a growing trend in demand for luxury residential developments. This demand is flowing through to multi-disciplinary engineering firms with expertise in building services engineering design, who can work closely with the developers and architects to achieve unique and innovative residences worthy of the prestigious location.
Wood & Grieve Engineers (WGE) is delighted to have worked with project managers Charter Keck Cramer (Charter), developer SC Land and architects Woods Marsh to provide mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, lifts, and sustainability services on the 30 Esplanade project.
Dan Collier, Associate Director at Charter advised “WGE has provided ongoing outstanding commitment to, and understanding of, the project’s difficult services requirements. It has provided a model service, both in the design and construction phases of this project.”
“Achieving beautiful and technically functional design is key to high-end residential projects. As an engineer, you need more than an understanding of the latest materials and trends” explains John Lucchetti, WGE Hydraulic Section Manager.
“These highly architectural projects require the engineer to be able to think with the left and right side of the brain, both creatively and practically, in order to design unique and buildable engineering solutions” says John. “This dual approach means that we can achieve great design and also steer clients clear of potential issues and cost blowouts which are common in architecturally advanced residential projects.”
30 Esplanade incorporates design elements which create private but light-filled living areas that are sure to delight the most discerning of residents, including features by a master glassmaker. The residential development is currently half way through construction, due for completion in October 2015.
