Wood & Grieve Engineers’ (WGE) online climate change adaptation tool, CChangeAP, has been validated by the Green Building Council of Australia, with WGE named as the first Recognised Provider for Climate Change Adaptation Plans.
Recognised Provider status offers a more certain outcome for those requiring location-specific climate change statistics to guide the development of new projects.
WGE’s skills and experience in climate change planning help to prepare clients with information about how climate change may affect their project in future and what needs to be done to mitigate any risks identified during the process.
WGE Sustainability Project Engineer Phillip Cook says CChangeAP is a powerful tool to ensure the future of projects currently in design. “The endorsement from the GBCA reflects our comprehensive and robust process in ensuring buildings of tomorrow stand the test of time,” he said.
According to Jorge Chapa, the GBCA’s Executive Director – Market Transformation, WGE has been validated for the ability to consistently deliver Green Star points in three areas: greenhouse gas emissions; electricity demand reduction and adaptation and resilience.
“WGE’s expertise in climate change adaptation can make achieving a rating simpler, faster and more cost-effective,” Mr Chapa explains. CChangeAP was used for 25 Rowe Avenue in Rivervale to identify site-specific risks associated with the project’s close proximity to the Swan River. Potential flooding and inundation due to sea level rise were identified, ensuring mitigation strategies were addressed at the design stage.
