At Wood & Grieve Engineers (WGE), our difference is our people. We heavily invest in creating a unique culture that empowers our team to deliver highly personalised and robust engineering solutions.
We’re also passionate about creating an environment where people enjoy coming to work. A place where everyone feels welcome to bring their whole personalities.
Which is why the organisation celebrated as a whole when, earlier this year, Reconciliation Australia officially endorsed WGE’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
A RAP is a strategic document that supports an organisation’s contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the communities in which it operates. As an active member of Australia’s property industry, WGE feels a strong responsibility to acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work.
Together, each office held a morning tea event which saw local Indigenous members come in to share a little about their culture, and what WGE staff can do to assist reconciliation in the community.
Each office also had a taste of local Indigenous cuisine, with Aboriginal caterers bringing in samples of traditional “bush tucker” treats – from different native cuisines, to what herbs, spices and flowers that can be collected from the bush.
We sat down with members of WGE’s RAP Working Group to discuss what this endorsement means on the organisation’s reconciliation journey, and what plans are in place for the future of our Reflect RAP.
As an accredited Best Employer (Aon Hewitt 2009, 2012-18) WGE wholeheartedly believes in the advantages of an inclusive workplace, in which individuals of varied backgrounds are welcomed, encouraged and given the opportunity to contribute to their full potential.
We are committed to maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. All employees are valued for their individual experiences and the strength of their contribution.
WGE is committed to gender and cultural diversity with a number of initiatives in place:
